Citi Field: Home of the 410 Foot Out

I saw that on a T-Shirt and really, what else can I say? What about something like “The Great Wall of Flushing”? Good ‘ol Mets. My favorite Baseball team since I was a kid but come on……….give us something other than 1986!!!

Another double header over a 3 day period. Against the Braves, no less. What’s it gonna be boys…..yes or no? Let me sleep on it, baby, baby let me sleep on it. Oh wait, those are lyrics from a Meatlof song. I got off course and distracted. Back to reality…………..

13 games into the season and alot is going right. Safe hits for Reyes in 12 consecutive games. Beltran has been productive on offense in the games he has played. David Wright and Ike Davis; uniform hits with consistency and power.

Josh Hamilton is out 6-8 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his right shoulder. Ut oh…..

That ends my blogging about the Mets. Ut oh………….

Switching to NFL news or should I say comments here’s a “New Rule”: When you have multiple super bowl rings, more money than God, and a supermodel wife, you don’t get to cry about anything ever. Nuff said!

Just in and somewhat interesting. Mock Draft: Pick #19, The New York Giants Select….. http://www.fanfeedr.com/nfl/2011/04/16/btb-community-mock-draft-pick-19-the-new-york-giants-select

Bootcamp started back 2 weeks ago. My abs and thighs are screaming but the results are worth the pain. Although the saying is “no pain, no gain” for me it’s “no pain, no loss”.

We’re finally seeing signs of Spring. One daffodil bloomed and I spent 2 afternoons in the yard doing a “Spring cleanup” which was really a “I never did Fall cleanup and I’m raking and bagging boatloads of leaves wishing I did a Spring cleanup”.

I suppose if my boys were doing better I’d blog more………….GO METS!

The road to Super Bowl XLV….

Did I mention the weather in upstate NY sucks???  More snow, now sleet and freezing rain.  Not lovin it but being that I can work from home makes it all the better!

While watching the Jets play this past Sunday, I was thinking about a friend of mine who has a strong dislike for Chris Collinsworth voice.  His voice is really pretty annoying…….So during one of the breaks his name came up on tv and I decided to Google him.  I laughed when I saw a string of images and the one that I clicked on was this:  http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.craxzynation.com/uploads/cris-collinsworth1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.craxzynation.com/biggest_doushebag.html&h=150&w=218&sz=49&tbnid=qhtQy9IRFmw_rM:&tbnh=74&tbnw=107&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchris%2Bcollinsworth&zoom=1&q=chris+collinsworth&hl=en&usg=__cSXkz3zmHw1lRZ2HxomGrVRTljs=&sa=X&ei=daQ1TYC3DIGdlgfisLkR&sqi=2&ved=0CC8Q9QEwAg

I thought to myself, who does he remind me of and then it hit me……….Big Bird!  Ironically, the image I selected was linked to a site about………..well check it out for yourself and you’ll get this jist of it.  :)

So this coming Sunday, we’ve got the Packers and Bears then the Jets and Steelers.  I won’t BS anyone.  I’m thrilled the Pats are out of the running.  I’m predicting we’ll see the Packers and Jets go all the way but I won’t throw down any cash until the games are over on Sunday!!!  I’m impressed with Rex Ryan’s speech pre-game where he said Belichick is a great coach and the best but that he (Rex) will be the better coach for Sunday’s game.  Looks like he was right on target!

Last year The Saints came marching in and I was there in Miami!  That was a week of volunteering for different sports related events leading up to the big day.  I think my favorite memory of that wasn’t so much watching the game in Sun Life Stadium or working the VIP party pre-game with celebs and sports figures but hanging out with players from the Dolphins and Jets and Giants while they were coaching kids and playing mini games on a mini filed at the stadium.  I sat on a bench with Braylon Edwards and talked about Miami nightlife and the Jets and the kids playing.  I should have had a talk with him about drinking and driving!!!!!!  jk…..Although I’m a true Giants fan and always will be, GO JETS!

p.s. The new pooch is settling into her new surroundings.  Cohabitating with the cats is another story for another day.  Too bad Cesar Milan didn’t make house calls to the East Coast.  Or will he…………..??

I suppose it’s time I got back to blogging. I seem to have fallen off the radar since May. Oy Vey! Alot has happened since May. I got a B+ for a final grade in my writing class, the METS still proceeded to suck all through baseball season and finally (and I use that word loosley) got rid of Omar and Jerry, I attended a pre-season NY Giants football game against the JETS, went to both season opener games for the Big Blue and the Jets, I had my annual SEAFOOD FEST which was a big hit (as usual). Let’s see, what else………I went through 2 sessions of a fitness bootcamp and LOVED it and started taking a liking to Spin classes. Overall it’s been a busy year.
New Years Day we’re taking the FAN VAN party bus on the road to see the G-MEN play the Redskins in WA (well technically, MD). Now this ought to be a road trip to remember. Not only did the Fan Van see almost every home game for our beloved NY Giants, it also went to just about every home JETS game………..talk about energy. Those green Jets fans sure know how to have a good time! Check out the FAN VAN on facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Fan-Van-Party-Bus/153944324625438?ref=ts
Here’s to another year almost gone……………Ah…..to be young again.

Man-Crush of the Week: Rod Barajas

Well readers…….I’m not writing my own blog today.  What’s up with that???!!!  So much to say, so little time!  Thanks for sharing this, hotfoot.  Aren’t these two strapping young bucks yummy???

[I’m going to be honest; I had a hard time deciding who to pick this week: For the first four games, it seemed as if this team was unstoppable. I even tweeted on Wednesday that I had a Man-Crush on the entire team. Everything was clicking. Then, Saturday and Sunday happened. Disasters. Demoralizing losses during which the Mets ace and who was quickly becoming the “1a” were just crushed by the Phillies. It’d be hard after those two games to pick anybody to be a Man-Crush after that. However, I’m going to roll with Rod Barajas anyway.
For the last week, during which sure, he only played 3 games, Barajas got 4 hits in 10 ABs, with 2 homers and a double. The thing is, it’s not even really about the stats. It’s more about the way he plays. For the last couple of years, we, for the most part, had to watch Brian Schneider, who was overrated defensively, and completely lackluster offensively. He had pretty much no personality (did you seehis lousy car commercial?). Barajas, on the other hand, is a guy who’s easy to root for. It’s hard to describe, but a great example of why I like him is the play he made tonight on a slow roller up the first base line, a ball he chased down and threw around the runner to get him out at first.
I know that a lot of people are probably going to read this and think “So apparently we win games on heart now?” and I understand that. What I also understand is that perception’s reality, and the perception around the Mets the last couple of years was that they didn’t have any swagger, showed very little personality, and had a tense clubhouse. Now, with guys like Jeff Francoeur and Barajas, you can tell that the mood around the clubhouse is different. Will it translate to more wins? Well, we’ll see. It might, or it might not, who knows. What I do know though is that guys like Barajas are fun to watch - and produce in the meantime - and that’s why he’s my Man-Crush of the Week.]

139 games to go…….

So the Mets are on a winning streak.  LOVE IT!  I couldn’t be happier!!!  Francoeur is still my Numero UNO this season (mostly because he’s so darn cute).  Seriously though, the orange and blue are catapulting to amazing heights.  They won for the 10th time in 11 games and are 1 1/2 games ahead of “you know who”.  And then there’s the reality of it all…..the Mets still have to play 139 games , including 17 more against the Filthies ooops the Phillies and at least one —- Saturday afternoon —- against Roy Halladay.  Oy Vey.  GO METS!

Research paper is on it’s last leg of writing.  First draft done and submitted.  Final edits and paper due on Tuesday.  One more week to the final exam.  I seriously can’t believe the semester is almost over.

I’ve been doing a fitness bootcamp with my friend and she’s kicking my ass but it’s paying off!!!

Today’s forecast is sunny and 84 degrees.

I have a new black kitty that I named “Stella”.

I’m exactly 3 months and 28 days away from turning 44…..Life is good!

Double Header = an orange and blue coup d’état!!

A double header gets us 6 straight wins and bumps us up to 1st place……..now we’re talkin!

Good ‘ol Joe torre once noted noted how difficult it is to hit without both feet on the ground. That was his take on a baseball cliché “Never too high, never too low.” But whadda ya know……the Mets are winning mucho number of games, and the calendar hasn’t changed since April Fool’s Day.

Pagan, Castillo and Reyes hit home base ……..Leave it to Wright to slam out 3 hits and 4 RBIs in the second game after he singled and walked in the first. Props to Bay and Davis.  Bay for hitting his first Mets home run in the first game  and a triple in the second and Davis for driving 3 runs in the second.

These guys are strong team in every sense of the definition.  They call it leadership by example. Bay and Wright have provided it, Santana, too.  As Jason Bay said, “No one stood up on a table and gave the ‘Braveheart’ speech.”   No one wants to wear a kilt.

I love blogging………………….Happy Hump Day!

Who doesn't love Cheetos Puffs? I've been called many things but what I really am is a goofy, geeky, intellectual, passionate woman who loves to write, talk sports (METS and GIANTS), politics and drink wine. I started Spin classes last Sept. 2010 and became addicted. First class, I thought I was going to croak. Since then, the rest is history! One thing about me that not many people know............I sleep on my stomach.
